Why MELOMELO Was Founded

MELOMELO was founded to create a music learning experience where strong musical foundations and the joy of playing grow together.

We believe music education should go beyond preparing for the next grade. Through thoughtful, personalised teaching, students are encouraged to listen, explore, create and express themselves, developing the skills and confidence to become independent musicians.

Because one day, the lesson will end.
The examination will be over.
The books will be closed.

But the love for music can remain.

And that is what we hope every student takes with them.

Teaching journey

Xiao Leq began her piano journey at the age of 10, and what started at the piano gradually grew into a deeper pursuit of music, performance, and education. She holds a Bachelor of Music Performance and pursued further postgraduate study through a Master of Performing Arts (Music).

Alongside her academic and performance background, Xiao Leq continues to develop her teaching practice through specialised professional training in piano pedagogy, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, and early childhood music education, including Professional Piano Teaching training and Every Child Sings Levels 1&2 Teacher Training.

Her approach brings together musical foundations, thoughtful pedagogy, creativity, and individualised learning. Rather than seeing music education as simply progressing from one grade to the next, she believes students should understand what they play, develop confidence in how they learn, and build a genuine connection with music.

As Principal of Melomelo Music Studio, Xiao Leq founded the studio with this philosophy at its heart: to create a welcoming space where quality music education can feel both purposeful and enjoyable, allowing every student to Play · Feel · Grow.
